DSA 2016: BAE Systems outlines Typhoon offset package for Malaysia

Citat:He added, "A key element with the Typhoon is that it will be supported here in Malaysia. We will have a maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility with a local partner, probably a joint venture but certainly an industrial partnership that will support the aircraft."

Brosnan noted that while localised production would not make economic sense for the MRCA programme, which will encompass the supply of 18 aircraft, the Typhoon offer could be supported by finance extended by the UK government. "Clearly, if we can spread payment plans over three periods rather than one, that is likely to be of interest," he said.

Elaborating on the point, Alan Garwood, BAE Systems' group business development director, told IHS Jane's that UK finance deals are becoming an increasingly popular method of supporting UK defence exports to countries facing economic constraints.

SAAB i dalje nudi iznajmljivanje JAS-39 Gripen C/D...a uz to nude sve i svasta
Saab Looks to Gripen Lease to Kickstart Malaysia's MRCA Programme

Citat:Sweden's Saab remains committed to its offer of leasing the Malaysian government its JAS 39 Gripen C/D multirole fighter in a bid to kick-start the country's stalled multirole combat aircraft (MRCA) programme, Thomas Linden, head of Saab Malaysia, said on 19 April.

Citat:"Our basic offer is a lease solution using examples where we have leased the Gripen to the Czech Republic and Hungary," he said. "The lease solution for Malaysia would work very similar to a purchase. There is no limit in the operation, you can use any weapons or systems, and we will build a local support solution here in Malaysia with our local partners. This programme is fully endorsed by the Swedish government."

He added, "When we lease the aircraft we will guarantee flight hours. So we will say that if you lease this aircraft from us you will get 'X hundred' flight hours per aircraft per year. And if we can't deliver that it's on us. What we are pricing in the lease are the capital costs that we have with the aircraft and also the support and related solutions."

MRCA: Its Typhoon or Rafale

Citat:SHAH ALAM: DESPITE the current travails, it appears that the MRCA programme is inching towards the final stage. And the aircraft shortlisted has been cut to two. Unsurprisingly, the two are the Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale.

Industry and ministry officials said although Boeing and Saab are aware of the latest developments they are still plugging away their planes as no contract have been signed yet. That said however if the funding magically appears tomorrow, it will be either the Typhoon or Rafale that will be chosen.

The decision on the MRCA could be made soon, I am told though funding remained the biggest issue on the table. As both UK and France offers funding options under a government-to-government deal the tricky issue could be resolved, I am told.

Citat:The use of the MIG-29N fighter aircraft will be reduced following increasing operating expenses, said Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) chief, Tan Sri Roslan Saad.

He said apart from that, the capabilities of the fighter aircraft were also getting more limited as the aircraft have been in service for 21 years since they were first used in 1995.

"We have been reducing the use of the aircraft since three years ago and so far there is no time frame as to when the aircraft will be completely phased out," he said.

BAE systems optimistic of bid to sell Eurofighter Typhoon to M’sia

Citat:“We’re quite optimistic now. We think all the evaluations are now being done. We’ve made our proposals. Our competitors made their proposals,” he told Bernama at the recent Defence Sevices Asia 2016 (DSA 2016).

He said the RMAF had tested its aircraft.

The company had in 2011, submitted the “Rough Order of Magnitude” prices, which are estimates or outline prices for the supply of main equipment, training and initial spares.

Brosnan said the comprehensive industrial package included in the bid for maintaining the aircraft would also create 20,000 jobs.
