During a ceremony to mark the occasion, the 81st Fighter Squadron (FS) of the 52nd Fighter Wing (FW) based at Spangdahlem Air Base was stood down after 71 years of operations in Europe, the last 19 of which were with the A-10. With the A-10s now retired from the European theatre of operations, the 52nd FW will continue to fly the multirole Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon as its only strike asset.

Raketom Strela 2 M pogodjen iznad Srbije u desni motor americki A 10,uspeo da sleti na aerodrom u Skoplju..

Svemirko :: Amerikanci su smatrali da je glavni protivnik A-10A sovjetski samohodni top ZSU-23-4 Siljka koji je u oktobarskom ratu 1973. god. Napravio pustos medju izraelskim jurisnim avionima, pa su zastitili vitalne sisteme tako da svaki mora da izdrzi jedan direktan pogodak granate kalibra 23mm. Ukupno 1023Kg titanijumskog oklopa stiti pilotsku kabinu, rezervoare i cevovod za gorivo, bubanj sa topovskim granatama i hidraulicni sistem. Da su sovjeti uporedo sa ZSU 23-4 Šiljka uveli u naoružanje i ZSU 37-2 Jenisej, ova priča bi bila bespredmetna.
Zaštititi vitalne dijelove aviona od granate kalibra 37mm je nemoguće!
