Turkey Eyes Indigenous Jet Contract by Mid-2016
Citat:TAI recently narrowed design options to three models, one of which will be chosen by the end-user, the Turkish Air Force.
The short-listed design options feature both single-engine and twin-engine models, according to Muharrem Dortkasli, TAI’s general manager.
“The choice over the engine will be key to finalize the decision on the design concept,” Dortkasli said. “All of the chosen three model options are good enough to meet the operational requirements of the end user.”
He said that TAI’s work aims to benefit from the capabilities of the local industry “at full.”
“Subsystems will be as ‘national’ as possible,” Dortkasli said.
Turkey hopes to fly the TF-X by 2023, the centennial of the Turkish republic. Dortkasli said the maiden flight will be followed by 300 to 500 sorties before certification of the aircraft.
“We will succeed,” he said.

Rusi pokazali interesovanje za program
Russia Interested in Turkey’s Stealth Fighter Program
Citat:Turkey’s program for the design, development and production of the country’s first indigenous fighter jet gained pace late in April when two local prime contractors joined forces to outline a production scheme for critical parts.
Meanwhile, in a surprise move, a top Russian aerospace concern expressed interest in developing an engine to power the TF-X, the Turkish fighter aircraft in the making.
On April 26, two strategic local contractors of the TF-X program, military electronics specialist Aselsan — Turkey’s largest defense firm — and Turkish Aerospace Industries, signed a memorandum of understanding to share work on the planned aircraft.

Problemi...
Rolls-Royce Backs Out of Turkish TF-X Fighter Program
Citat:Rolls-Royce has scaled back efforts to join a Turkish programme to build a new fighter jet, striking a blow to UK ambitions to put the British aerospace industry at the heart of the project.
The aero-engine group has been working with the Turkish industrial group Kale to bid for the contract to develop the engine on the TF-X jet, an ambitious scheme to create Turkey's first indigenous combat aircraft. Senior UK officials, including the prime minister, Theresa May, had lobbied hard for Rolls-Royce to win the deal.
Talks ran into problems last year due to a dispute over the sharing of intellectual property and the involvement of a Qatari-Turkish company.
