Denel je dobio ugovor vredan 900 miliona $ za snabdevanje juznoafricke vojske sa 238 Badgera. Badger je baziran na Patriji modifikovanoj po njihovim zeljama, ukljucujuci ravno dno, drugacije dizajniranu unutrasnjost i modularnu kupolu.

The GI-30 is an externally driven electromechanical cannon that uses a drum-cam to chamber rounds and extract spent cartridges. This reduces gases in the turret and improves the controlled firing rate. It is the first weapon of its kind to fire linkless 30 mm x 173 mm ammunition through a dual feeder.
The M10 mortar has a range of 6,000 m and can be depressed to -5°, allowing it to be employed in a direct fire role. Burger added that an important advantage is it can launch most types of standard 60 mm mortar bombs, although it was designed primarily for Denel's long-range munitions.
