Nesreca u Kanadi u vojnom kompleksu
Citat:Four service members died and dozens more were seriously injured in the the mass casualty incident at CFB Wainwright in Alberta, Prime Minister Mark Carney said in a televised statement.
The Prime Minister added that the incident was one of the worst tragedies for the forces in Canadian soil in peace time.
Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) earlier said in an earlier statement that the fire ignited within the training area of CFB Wainwright at approximately 4:00 p.m. (local time) on October 17, which spread rapidly beyond the boundaries of the training area.

According to unconfirmed reports, the mass casualty incident at CFB Wainwright occurred when a Carl Gustaf 84 mm anti-tank round inadvertently struck a natural gas pipeline during live-fire training.
This caused a massive explosion and severe fire, and reportedly levelled nearby training buildings. The fire then spread to munitions storage facility in the training area setting off secondary detonations. Strong winds later drove the flames across the training area and beyond the base perimeter creating a major fire.
Initial reports suggest that the incident left at least seven people dead and dozens injured. Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) said in a statement that it will not confirm casualty or injury details until the next of kin notification process is complete.

Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) identified the four service members who lost their lives during a fire-related training incident at CFB Wainwright at approximately 4 p.m. MDT on October 17.
The members confirmed killed during this exercise:
- Sergeant Morgan Wong, from the Loyal Edmonton Regiment based at Edmonton, Alberta serving with 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (3 PPCLI)
- Private Shaun Farrell, from 3 PPCLI based at Edmonton, Alberta
- Private Aidan Goulding, from 3 PPCLI based at Edmonton, Alberta
- Private Hayden Lykkemark, from 3 PPCLI based at Edmonton, Alberta

The statement added that 39 additional Canadian Armed Forces members sustained injuries in the incident.
When the incident occurred, members of 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (1 CMBG) from the 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (3 PPCLI), were conducting live fire training at CFB Wainwright as part of Exercise APOLLO SHOOTER.
The fire ignited during the training and high wind speeds enabled the fire to grow and spread very rapidly overtaking the unit administrative area leading to the mass casualty event.
