the Womens Royal Tank Corps going into battle.The WRTC was formed because of the shortage of men available (due to horrendous losses on the front).85 tanks were supposed to hit the German defences at 09.00 hours on the 11th August 1918,but unfortunately only one arrived,and this collided with a tree as it
got to the battlefield.
65 ended up on the English channel coast due to map reading errors,and the other 19 were lost in parallel parking accidents when the convoy stopped for a cream tea 8 miles from the front.
This was the first and last outing for the Womens Royal Tank Corps....
