Citat:Mistral Inc. and UVision have received an additional order worth more than $50 million for HERO 120 loitering munitions under the U.S. Army’s Lethal Unmanned Systems (LUS) program.

The order was announced one day after the HERO 120 successfully completed its first Lot Acceptance Tests on August 4, 2026. The additional procurement includes more loitering munition systems and supporting equipment for U.S. Army units.
The HERO 120 is a tube-launched loitering munition designed to provide precision strike capability against personnel, light armored vehicles, and other battlefield targets. It has a reported endurance of up to 60 minutes, a range of more than 60 km, and features an operator-in-the-loop capability, allowing missions to be aborted before impact if required.
The latest order falls under the Army’s broader $982 million LUS framework contract awarded to Mistral Inc. and UVision in 2025 for the procurement, fielding, training, and sustainment of the HERO 120 system.

Citat:Rheinmetall has test-fired its FV-014 loitering munition from a truck-mounted Containerized Missile Launcher for the first time, — Defence Blog reports.

The test took place in July 2026 at the National Test Centre for Unmanned Aerial Systems at the German Aerospace Centre in Cochstedt, Saxony-Anhalt. According to Rheinmetall, both stationary and moving launches were conducted during a customer demonstration.

The Containerized Missile Launcher is reportedly based on a standard 20-foot ISO shipping container and can accommodate up to 18 FV-014 munitions. It can be deployed statically or mounted on platforms including Rheinmetall’s HX-series trucks, rail cars and naval vessels.
The FV-014 reportedly has a launch weight of around 22 kg (49 lbs), including a payload of approximately 6 kg (13 lbs). Rheinmetall states that it has a range of up to 100 km (62 miles) and a flight endurance of up to 70 minutes.
The munition reportedly carries a High-Explosive Dual Purpose warhead and is designed to engage both armoured and unarmoured targets as well as infrastructure.
According to Rheinmetall, the FV-014 uses an electrically powered propeller and is designed with reduced radar and infrared signatures. After being launched from the container using a booster, it unfolds its wings and transitions into aerodynamic flight.
The system retains permanent human-in-the-loop control, with an operator required to authorise each strike and able to abort a mission. Rheinmetall also states that the FV-014 is designed to operate in GNSS-denied and electronic-warfare environments and supports swarm operations.
Germany has reportedly already ordered FV-014 systems, with the first systems expected to equip Panzerbrigade 45 in Lithuania from 2027.
