Moscow: The Russian Armed Forces will take delivery of a new 9-mm handgun to replace the aging Makarov pistol, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said.
"We are certifying a new pistol, the Strizh, which will replace the Makarov pistol in the next few months," Rogozin, who oversees the defence industry, told Rossiya 24 television.
The Makarov pistol has been the standard issue weapon for the Russian military and police for over 60 years.
Strizh has been developed by a Russian private company, Arsenal Firearms.
The new handgun has better performance than the Austrian-made Glock 17, a favourite of special forces worldwide, Rogozin said.
The weapon has a slim-profile polymer frame, an easy-to-rack slide with rear and front serrations, an ambidextrous magazine release and a Picatinny rail for mounting special sights. The pistol also has three safety mechanisms to prevent accidental firing.
Strizh holds 18-round or 30-round ammunition clips, and can be equipped with a flashlight and a laser sight.
It can also be fitted with a longer barrel and used as a machine-pistol.

The Russian Armed Forces will take delivery of a new 9-mm handgun to replace the Makarov pistol, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said. This is part of the military’s effort to upgrade its military forces.
The Strizh handgun has said to be better performance than the Austrian-made Glock 17, a favorite of special forces worldwide, Rogozin said.
According to the article, the weapon is a 9 mm, has a slim-profile polymer frame, an easy-to-rack slide with rear and front serrations, an ambidextrous magazine release and a Picatinny rail for mounting special sights.

Zao mi Makarova, ali odsluzio je svoje sto jes' jes'. A ovaj kako mi se cini ima potencijala, nisan se cini preglednim, kontole su lako uocljive i na dohvatu prsta, a 17 komada u okviru ako nije dovoljno onda nzm sta je

najnize postavljena cijev u odnosu na konkurente, sto smanjuje odskok,a sve zbog posebnog nacina bravljenaj, cijev ne oscilira kao na mod, Brauningovoj bravi pa je i preciznost bolja.
zato je na slikama s sigom...
ako jos tome dodamo dizajn koji vise nije "sovjetski" ovo je prava stvar. vec se koristi u IpSC takmicenjima i u FSBu
ima i dugocevna verzija sa svom silom dodataka........

Rogozin traži da se pištolj doradi,ako treba i da se "spava" sa pištoljem.

Inače,po mom skromnom mišljenju (svi brojevi Kalibra i izdanja nekadašnjeg Metak),tri su modela suverena na tržištu i njihove varijacije na temu: stari dobri M1911,polimerski Glock i SIG 226 sa svojom bravom. Izbor je kod Rusa očigledno pao na Glock,dobar,pouzdan,nema tu neke velike filozofije. Uostalom,Rusima ovo nije prvi put da kopiraju strana rešenja...
