According to the media office of Ahrar al-Sham, the two factions, in coordination with local jihadists who were located at the Russian military base, decided to bomb the car after they observed a gathering of senior Russian generals at the military base.
The belated announcement of the car bombing came shortly before the Syrian truce was scheduled to start on Saturday. Russia and the US have already announced that the ceasefire will not apply to ISIS and al-Nusra Front, but in light of this terror attack, Russia might demand the exclusion of Ahrar al-Sham as well.

Minutes ago, the Tiger Forces – in close coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF), the Republican Guard, and Liwaa Al-Quds (Jerusalem Brigade) – imposed full control over the imperative village of Shilallah Al-Kabeera in the Khanasser Plains’ northern countryside after a violent battle with ISIS that began last night. In addition to capturing Shilallah Al-Kabeera, the Tiger Forces and their allies have also advanced to Al-Hawaz’s southern perimeter; if the aforementioned village is captured by the government forces, then ISIS will likely withdraw from the Khanasser Plains in order to avoid encirclement.

More than two dozen Saudi Air Force personnel and a cargo of military equipment have arrived in Turkey to prepare for a joint air campaign in Syria. Turkish media said on Thursday that some 30 officers had arrived onboard two C-130 military cargo planes at Incirlik military airbase south of Turkey two days ago. The military personnel are expected to prepare for the deployment of Saudi fighter jets which are due to arrive in Turkey in the coming hours.

On Friday morning in the Aleppo Governorate’s southeastern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – backed by the Cheetah Forces “Team 3” and “Team 6”; the National Defense Forces (NDF); the Republican Guard; and Hezbollah – liberated 5 villages along the strategic Khanasser-Aleppo Road after a short battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) inside the Khanasser Plains. According to a military source from the Tiger Forces in southeast Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces imposed full control over Shilallah Al-Saghira, Mina’ya, and Jokhah after launching a powerful assault this morning from their positions at the nearby villages of Shilallah Al-Kabeera and Rasm Al-Nafal. Only a small parcel of territory remains under ISIS’ control in the Khanasser Plains; however, these villages are likely to be captured by the Syrian Armed Forces in the coming hours as they continue to encircle the terrorist group’s final positions in southeastern Aleppo.
