Citat:The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has taken delivery of the first production-standard 40 mm Cased Telescoped Cannon System (CTCS) from CTA International (CTAI) in Bourges, France.
CTAI is a joint venture company formed by Nexter Systems of France and BAE Systems of the UK that was awarded its first production contract for the 40 mm CTCS in July 2015.
Under the contract, the company will supply 515 CTCSs to the UK MoD over a seven-year period. The systems are delivered to the UK MoD as they are supplied as government-furnished equipment for the two-person turret developed by Lockheed Martin UK for the General Dynamics UK Ajax (formerly Scout - Specialist Vehicle) tracked reconnaissance vehicle and for a different Lockheed Martin UK turret for installation as part of the Warrior Capability Sustainment Programme (WCSP).
The first two natures of 40 mm ammunition, both qualified in 2014, are armour-piercing fin-stabilised discarding-sabot - tracer (APFSDS-T) and target practice - tracer (TP-T) rounds that are insensitive munition compliant.
