Citat:Slovenia’s government is delaying an envisioned purchase of roughly 100 AMV XP vehicles from Finnish manufacturer Patria during its current term, marking a new twist in the country’s long-running acquisition saga about armored vehicles.
This means that, despite signing a letter of intent with Finland last February, the Cabinet will not authorize the procurement of new eight-wheel-drive rides before the next parliamentary election, expected to be held in March 2026.

Current Defense Minister Robert Kaliňák blames the problems on disadvantageous contracts concluded by the previous leadership and admits that he has started to approach other manufacturers because of the delays, although he wants to continue negotiations with Finland.

The Slovak Ministry of Defense is reportedly now considering ordering Pandur EVO armored vehicles from the Czech company Tatra Defence, which is part of Czechoslovak Group (CSG).

Patria signs with Czech state firms for armoured vehicle bid
Citat:Finnish defence company Patria has signed memoranda of understanding with three Czech state enterprises under the Ministry of Defence as it seeks to position its AMV XP 8×8 armoured vehicle for the Czech Armed Forces’ re-equipment programme, according to the company.
The MoUs were signed with the Military Technical Institute, VOP CZ and the Military Research Institute, and are intended to build a long-term partnership that, if the project proceeds, would ensure significant domestic industry participation, technology transfer and capability development within Czech state and private enterprises across production, maintenance and further vehicle development. Patria also has a long-standing partnership with Czech private manufacturer STV GROUP.

The final batch was handed over last week in Lieskovec. The 10 ambulance vehicles are part of the government-to-government agreement between the Governments of Slovakia and Finland and Patria, covering a total of 76 Patria AMV XP 8x8 vehicles.

Patria (@group_patria) and STV Group (@stv_group) are offering the Patria AMV XP to the AČR as a replacement for the aging KBVP Pandur II 8x8 CZ.
The Turra 30V10 is a Slovak turret from EVPÚ a.s. equipped with a 30mm Mk44 Bushmaster II cannon. The turret is also fitted with the C-UAS Harpia APS, the C-UAS Gladius Twin RWS with integrated radar, and the CMS-1 commander’s sight, all from the Czech company EVPÚ Defence. The turret also features the ELI-3312 Multi-Mission Multi-Sensor Suite.

The revised agreement includes a new delivery timeline to boost the deliveries for the Slovak BOV 8x8 armoured vehicle programme with the local production of the vehicles well underway.
“We are pleased to have updated our agreement with the Slovak Ministry of Defence through close and constructive cooperation. The agreement secures the continued delivery of our armoured vehicles to the Slovak Armed Forces. By this important step we achieved balanced terms and conditions for both sides,” says Jussi Järvinen, EVP, Patria’s Protected Mobility business area.
