Citat:North Korean leader Kim Jong Un presided over the commissioning of the Choe Hyon, a 5,000-ton destroyer, at the western port of Nampo on June 23 (announced by state media June 24). It's the largest warship North Korea has ever built and the first true destroyer in its navy, now formally in service to defend the country's western coast.

Kim said warships like the Choe Hyon show "the nuclear armament of his navy is progressing as planned," and that the navy is shifting from coastal defense into "a full-fledged service equipped with strategic means." State media (KCNA) says the ship carries anti-aircraft, anti-ship, and nuclear-capable ballistic and cruise missiles, and that it has test-fired what it described as nuclear-capable cruise missiles.
