In an interview with The Financial Times, former Nigerian president and African Union envoy Olusegun Obasanjo revealed that the number killed in the recent Tigray War in Ethiopia was about 600,000.

Obasanjo further recalled that on November 2 last year, the day the peace agreement was signed in Pretoria, Ethiopian officials stated: “We have stopped 1,000 deaths every day.”

Etiopska vlada je proglasila vanredno stanje nakon višednevnih sukoba između vojske i lokalne milicije Fano u regiji Amhara

U saopštenju kancelarije premijera Abija Ahmeda, kojim je objavljeno vanredno stanje, nije rečeno odnosi li se samo na Amharu ili na celu zemlju.
"Potrebno je proglasiti vanredno stanje jer je postalo teško kontrolisati situaciju redovnim pravnim sistemom", stoji u saopštenju.

Deklaracija daje vladi ovlašćenja zabrane javnih okupljanja, hapšenja bez naloga i uvođenja policijskog časa. Fano je bio ključni saveznik vojske (ENDF) tokom dvogodišnjeg građanskog rata u susednoj regiji Tigraj, koji je završio u novembru, ali se odnos pogoršao zbog napora federalnih vlasti da oslabe regionalne paravojne formacije.

ENDF says denying Red Sea and Assab Port claim amounts to “banditry”
Citat:The Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) said that any attempt to deny Ethiopia’s claim over the Red Sea and the Port of Assab “cannot have a water-tight rationale other than banditry.”
In a statement released on its official Facebook page on Saturday, 27 September 2025, the army described the Red Sea and Assab Port issue as “the pain of our Ethiopia for over three decades,” which, it said, has “diminished the honor of [Ethiopia’s] nationhood and obstructed its geopolitical national interest.”
The ENDF further stated that the official raising of the Red Sea question at the international level “has filled Ethiopian soldiers, who would not hesitate for a second to pay any sacrifice for the realization of our Ethiopia’s national interest, with immense joy.”
The statement comes amid heightened tensions between Ethiopia and Eritrea regarding Ethiopia’s access to the Red Sea and its claim over the Port of Assab.
