Citat:French defence procurement agency, DGA has ordered the initial preliminary work for the upcoming launch of the development phase of the latest Rafale F5 standard.

The initial contracts were awarded to Dassault Aviation, MBDA, Safran and Thales. The developmental work specifically covers new engine, radar, self-protection suite and inertial navigation system (INS) for the next-generation standard of Rafale fighter aircraft.
The new Rafale F5 standard will be equipped with more powerful engines, Thales RBE2-XG advanced GaN AESA radar, and improved survivability and data links. It will be able to carry the next-generation ASN4G hypersonic nuclear missile, and will be accompanied by an uncrewed combat air vehicle (UCAV). The UCAV will be complementary to the Rafale and will act as a collaborative combat aircraft (CCA).
The F5 standard is expected to be qualified by 2033 before entering operational service, initially with French Air and Space Force, and then with French Navy.

One of the algorithm was developed in-house by the company’s engineers, while the other was developed in collaboration with Thales/cortAIx.
The development of these new functions is part of a broader initiative to integrate controlled and supervised AI into the cockpit, serving the human crew.
The company claimed that the systems have reached a level of maturity that makes them eligible for future Rafale upgrades.
