Citat:Kraken Technology Group and Capewell, supported by the Royal Navy under Project Beehive, have successfully completed the world’s first extracted-load airdrop of an uncrewed surface vessel (USV) from an A400M military transport aircraft.
During a series of trials, a Project Beehive specification K3 SCOUT USV was deployed on Capewell’s Universal Maritime Craft Aerial Delivery System (UMCADS) multiple times from an altitude of 1,300 feet into waters of up to Sea State 4.
The trials combined Kraken’s K3 SCOUT optional airdrop kit with Capewell’s reconfigurable Type V parachute-based UMCADS platform, which can airdrop various maritime vessels directly into military zones. The trial campaign culminated with a successful validation of a pioneering new IN-Release system, a configurable electro-mechanical release mechanism which enables reliable, synchronised load disconnect across a wide range of aerial and maritime application

Citat:French Air and Space Force has conducted the first deployment of its A400M Atlas tactical transport aircraft, equipped with fire retardant drop kit, to fight the wildfires in South West of France, on July 25.
The operation, conducted in cooperation with Sécurité Civile, consisted of dropping nearly 22 tonnes (20,000 litres) of retardant creating extensive containment lines ahead of fast-moving fire fronts.
The Roll-on/Roll-off (RO-RO) firefighting prototype kit, developed by Airbus, has twice the capacity of a Dash aircraft and thrice that of a Canadair aircraft.

In August 2026, Polish Deputy Defence Minister Paweł Zalewski confirmed that Poland is negotiating the acquisition of Airbus A400M Atlas aircraft. The proposed acquisition would strengthen Poland’s strategic airlift capability and complement the country’s existing fleet of C-130 Hercules transport aircraft.
