U.S. CH-47Ds sold to South Korea are outdated
Citat:South Korean news network JTBC reported on Sept. 18 that 14 CH-47Ds sold by the United States to South Korea in 2014 are so outdated that the military has decided to not to upgrade them.
The report says the rotorcraft were used by the U.S. military for many years before being transferred to the Koreans. The GPS navigation system on board were stripped from the aircraft and the Americans had promised to retrofit them back later, till today, no updates were carried out.
These aircraft also lack missile protection systems and ballistic armor on the floors.

Israeli ground forces prefer Chinook over CH-53K
Citat:Israel may be erring towards the Boeing CH-47 Chinook, after the country's army said it preferred the tandem-rotor helicopter for an emerging requirement for heavy-lift rotorcraft.
The nation is looking to replace its current fleet of aged Sikorsky CH-53 Yasur helicopters from the late 2020s.
Although operated by the air force, the helicopters are used to transport troops from the Israeli ground forces, which have indicated a preference for the CH-47.
