Ovo je prica jednog vojnika Americke vojske o kojecemu i jedan deo je i o Bosni... bar je naucio da psuje.

Citat:It was the last mission I was on in Bosnia—this was 1997. After we got there, and it started getting stable, a lot of the folks had squirreled away grenades, and mines, and bombs, and ammunition. They’d put out the word through Civil Affairs, Hey, if you see a convoy, just turn your stuff in.

We’re heading back from the very last mission, and here comes a local Bosnian. He has a grenade. He wants to get rid of this grenade. Translator jumps out. He says, Yeah, I have a grenade. I’d like to turn in my grenade. I said, There’s a pile of dirt. Tell him to put it on that pile of dirt. I told the LT, You call EOD, we’ll mark it, and then we can leave. EOD will come. These days, if you spot an IED, you have to secure the area, but in those days, it was a little more free-for-all—you didn’t have to stay and secure it.

He puts the grenade on the pile of dirt. I get the marking details. I’m wrapping this cotton tape around the pickets, when I see this guy’s hand come out with a PMA-3, which is an antipersonnel mine. It’s a little bit bigger than a hockey puck. It functioned off a chemical fuse in the middle. If the bottom half or the top half of that mine would pivot, if they pivoted far enough, they would snap that chemical fuse. This reaction would set off the explosives, and the mine would detonate.

My whole life flashes before my eyes—everything, for a split second, everything that led me up there, even faster than I could really process. It was one of those weird things that your brain does. Time is sped up, and it’s slowed down. It seemed to take forever for that thing to hit the ground. It falls about two feet. It goes, Kerplunk!, onto the dirt and just sits there. I can see that the fuse is in there. It’s a fused live mine.

Apparently, he had neglected to mention, Oh, by the way, about the grenade? I got a mine, too. I think I’ll go get the mine. You guys want the mine? Here, have the mine! Suddenly, conscious thought comes back into play, and I realize what he just did. I start cussing him and calling him every name in the book. At that point, I was, Fuck this. Fuck Bosnia. I’ve had enough. This is my last fucking day. I am done.
