U Libiji ( Tripoli), štrajkuju radnici na jednom od najvećih naftnih polja i u jednoj od većih rafinerija. Oni traže smenu direktora državne naftne kompanije koja upravlja postrojenjima. Ugrožena je prerada 120 hiljada barela nafte dnevno, a moguće i rad gasovoda kojim se izvozi prirodni gas u Italiju.

Cena nafte tipa Brent već više od mesec dana je ispod 80 za barel. Ovo je podstaklo kineske naftaše na povećanje uvoza iako ekonomski parametri kineske privrede ne pokazuju znake značajnog rasta. Kupuje se na svim stranama, osim od amera.
Očigledno je da kinezi prave zalihe u očekivanju moguće otežanog snabdevanja ako dođe do krize u zapadnom Pacifiku, ili ako dođe do većeg konflikta u Zalivu, jer odatle kupuju znatnu količinu a rusi nemaju dovoljno tankera da im nadoknade.
