Royal Navy’s newest hunter-killer submarine prepares for frontline ops
Citat:The Royal Navy’s newest hunter-killer submarine is now on the verge of joining the operational cycle following intensive tests in the Atlantic.
HMS Anson, the fifth of the Royal Navy’s Astute-class boats, conducted trials off the east coast of the United States and in the Caribbean Sea, rigorously testing its systems and weaponry.

The Astute-class nuclear-powered submarines are the largest and most advanced attack submarines ever operated by the navy, according to the officials. They are capable of launching long-range Tomahawk missiles to accurately hit land targets and lethal Spearfish torpedoes to defeat enemy submarines.

Coupled with that, Anson and its operational sisters – Astute, Ambush, Artful and Audacious – are capable of circumnavigating the globe while submerged, producing their own oxygen and drinking water to sustain the crews on arduous and lengthy deployments.

UK to retire two Type 23 frigates
Citat:As informed, the vessels in question are Type 23 frigates HMS Argyll and HMS Westminster. HMS Argyll has been sold to BAE Systems and will be used within the UK’s shipbuilding sector, supporting apprentice training in line with the government’s agenda on skills and shipbuilding capacity. The vessel was launched in 1989, and it was the longest-serving Type 23 frigate.

HMS Westminster, which was launched in February 1992, will also be decommissioned. The vessel was known throughout the Royal Navy as ‘the capital ship’. In 2014, HMS Westminster underwent an extensive refit which resulted in a new principal weapon: the Sea Ceptor surface-to-air missile system

First woman to take charge of British aircraft carrier
