ODLİCNOM STRELCU Is there a military historian on this forum? I am TÜRK.
There is no historian to help me? This form to.
my father.1932 Born in Ustrumica. My father was a soldier in serbia (1952-54), received a sniper award in the army (odlicnom strelcu). I wonder. In which city did he perform military service?(in Serbia). Back then,(1950-54) Whice, there was a military unit in the city? Does anyone knows? MIslim da se radi o Strumici u Makedoniji. Tamo u okolini ima selo koje se zove Calakli i zive pripadnici turske manjine. DOsta je turskih sela bas na granici sa Grckom.

Sad sam pitao poznanika, naslov teme otprilike (ne mogu mu procitati kako treba) ,,gde se dobija ova medalja?Dal neko zna?,,

Well, let me try to help Nazim.

Your question is not clear. What exactly you would like to know?

From your post, and based on year of birth of your father and years of his military service, it looks like he was conscripted into military service in 1950 when he was 18 years old. He served for 2 years which, i believe, was standard length of service for conscripts in those days.

Military service was compulsory for any male able body citizen of Yugoslavia. He might have served in any of many units of the army or navy and it is almost impossible to find out which unit it was or where he was posted during service, unless you have some location of the unit he served, or unless you search the archives, and i am not sure if such data are available for web search.

As for the medal, the text on the medal reads "to excellent marksmen". I hope someone on this forum with more knowledge of medals will be able to give you more details, but it is highly likely this was a soldier medal to recognize outstanding achievement in marksmanship.
