Danas pada godišnjica uvođenja rakete R-1 u naoružanje pod indeksom 8A11. Serijska proizvodnja počinje iduće godine u preduzeću Br. 586 potonjem KB Južnoje u Dnjepropetrovsku i trajala je do 1955 godine.

MOSCOW, November 30. /TASS/. The Russian training ground in the Novaya Zemlya archipelago is maintained in readiness for the possible resumption of nuclear tests. This was stated to TASS by the former head of the 12th Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Vladimir Verkhovtsev.

As Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview with TASS, the issue of resumption of nuclear tests is facing the Russian Federation against the background of the escalation course of the United States, the situation remains difficult and is constantly considered in the whole complex.

"The training ground on Novaya Zemlya has been fully ready for the resumption of nuclear tests for several years. If the officials who make a personal decision on this issue make it, we are ready to do it as soon as possible," Verkhovtsev said.

He added that many nuclear tests were conducted in the USSR and the United States, "from a technical point of view, the information already available is quite enough". "But if it is necessary to do it from a political point of view, the training ground on Novaya Zemlya is ready to resume nuclear tests, for this only the decision of the country's leadership is needed," Verkhovtsev added.

The 12th Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is engaged in the storage, operation and maintenance of nuclear ammunition.
