Mali junta expels UN mission's human rights chief over 'destabilising' actions
Citat:Mali's ruling junta said Sunday that it was expelling the head of the human rights division of MINUSMA, the UN mission there, giving him 48 hours to leave the country.
The decision comes after a Malian rights activist last month denounced the security situation in the country in a speech to a UN gathering, and accused the regime's new Russian military partners of serious rights violations.

Mali Paying Wagner Group $10 Mn A Month, US General Says
Citat:General Stephen Townsend, the head of US Africa command, said by teleconference, that Wagner is a "bad presence" that will not contribute to Mali's stability.
"I have reason to believe that the Malian government tab for Wagner’s services is $10 million dollars a month," he said.
"I think they’ll have to trade in kind for natural resources such as gold or gemstones, because I don't know how they come up with $10 million a month," he added.
Mali is a nation of 19 million people, where the army seized power in August 2020.
