Turkey Issues RFP for Future Fighter Engine

Citat:Turkey has requested bids from global motor companies GE, Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney to present bids to power Turkey’s future fighter jet. The defense authorities, who mull to complete the program by 2023, see the engines as the first step for the ambitious program

Turkey’s aerospace industry and procurement authorities have decided to first choose a foreign-made engine for the indigenous fighter jet that the country’s local industry will develop, and then finalize its design.

A senior aide of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Turkish scientists had decided that choosing the engine and then proceeding with the program would be the best way.

“So we’ll first choose the engine that will power the TF-X [the proposed Turkish fighter] and develop the aircraft based on that engine,” the official said.

Citat : ANKARA — European engine-maker Eurojet Turbo may find a role in powering what would become Turkey's first indigenous fighter jet, industry sources and analysts said.
They said a critical Turkish decision to select a twin-engine model for the fighter jet the country hopes to design, develop and manufacture could be a sign that the European consortium could power the Turkish aircraft.
"That decision reflects a natural compatibility with Eurojet's EJ200," said one senior aerospace official. "It may not be a coincidence that Turkey decided to go for a twin-engine model."
Turkey's top procurement panel, the Defense Industry Executive Committee, decided Jan. 7 to move on to the "pre-design" phase in the country's bid to build an indigenous fighter jet.
Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, chairman of the committee, told reporters after the meeting that a twin-engine model would be pursued in the national fighter aircraft program, dubbed the TFX.
On Jan. 20, defense electronics specialist Aselsan, Turkey's largest defense company, and Eurojet announced they had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Ne mogu a da ne primetim da svi novi koncepti lovaca pete generacije više liče na F-22 nego na F-35.

Turkey Releases RFI for Fighter Program

Citat:The Turkish government finally released a Request for Information (RFI) for its ambitious program for the design, development and production of an indigenous fighter jet.

The country's procurement agency, the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM), defined in the RFI document the scope of the fighter program, dubbed TF-X, as "indigenous design, development and production activities of the first Turkish fighter aircraft to meet Turkish Armed Forces' next generation fighter requirements and replace the existing F-16 fighter fleet starting from 2030s."

Turks Agree To Speed up Fighter Program

Citat:Davutoglu has said that a twin-engine model would be pursued in the national fighter aircraft program.
But the procurement official said this is not an irreversible decision. "We remain flexible on the choice of engine modality. Depending on our choice of a base model we may rethink that," he said.
He also said the "base model" could be both a NATO or a non-NATO product.

Turkey To Select Foreign Partner for Fighter Program
Arrow http://www.defensenews.com/story/defense/air-space...../28401665/
Citat:In one of the most critical stages shaping its indigenous fighter jet program, the Turkish government plans to select a foreign partner by 2016, officials said.
The foreign partner would be expected to support the approximately four-year planned designing phase of the program dubbed F-X, the officials said.
One senior procurement official said the contract involving the foreign partner would be around US $1 billion.
Early in March, Turkey's procurement agency, the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM), released a request for information (RFI) for the F-X program. A number of international aerospace manufacturers have replied to the RFI, the official said, including BAE Systems, Saab, China's Shenyang Aircraft Corp., Airbus Germany, Alenia and Sierra Nevada Corp. (SNC)

Engine Selection Critical for Turkish Fighter Program
Arrow http://www.defensenews.com/story/defense/air-space...../72670266/
Citat:For instance, Turkey built the T129, an attack helicopter, under license from the Italian-British AgustaWestland, but to export the copter it needs to win license approval from the platform’s US engine maker, Light Helicopter Turbine Engine Company, a joint venture between Rolls-Royce and US firm Honeywell. Those talks are ongoing.
“We want a final product with all the technology-related licenses belonging to us,” the first procurement official said.

Ko će da im da licencu za celi motor aviona? Za helikopter bez Amera nema izvoza.
