Činuk u verziji ACH-47 Gunship

Citat:The ACH-47A "Guns A Go-Go" were four armed CH-47A Chinook helicopters that were produced to evaluate if CH-47s can be used as gunships. The four helicopters were nicknamed "Co$t of Living", "Easy Money", "Stump Jumper" and "Birth Control".
Three of the helicopters were brought to Vietnam in April 1966 for field-evaluation with the 53rd Aviation Detachment while "Co$t of Living" stayed in the USA for further tests and followed in August.

The helicopters were equipped with the M5 Armament Subsystem. This system was a belt-fed M75 40mm grenade launcher in a flexible chin-mounted turret (similar to the UH-1 version).
Shown below is the XM32 Armament Subsystem with a M2 cal. 50 machinegun mounted in the window, a M35 Armament Subsystem with a M195 20mm gun mounted on the outside of the winglet and a XM159 19-tube rocket launcher for 2.74 inch rockets mounted below.
A XM33 Armament Subsystem with a M2 cal. 50 machinegun was mounted on the backramp.
Unfortunately the programm was canceled after three of the four helicopters were lost. "Stumper Jumper" had a ground accident, "Co$t of Living" and "Birth Control" were shot down and after that "Easy Money" was converted back to a standard CH-47A because it was not allowed to serve alone.

Korea May Buy Surplus US Army CH-47Ds
Citat:The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress today of a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Republic of Korea for CH-47D Model Aircraft and associated equipment, parts, training and logistical support for an estimated cost of $151 million.
The Republic of Korea has requested a possible sale of:
-- 14 CH-47D Model Aircraft to include T55-GA-714A Engines, 2 per aircraft (14 ac x 2=28 engines)

Boeing to deliver 28 Chinooks to US Army
Citat:Boeing will build six new CH-47F heavy-lift helicopters and remanufacture 22 more for the US Army in Fiscal 2014 under a contract announced on 26 December worth $618 million.
The contract signed with the Army Contracting Command includes funds for long-lead items to remanufacture 13 more Chinooks to the F-model standard in Fiscal 2015.

FIDAE 2014: Boeing offering 80 CH-47Ds to international market

Citat:Boeing is planning to offer refurbished US Army surplus CH-47D Chinook cargo helicopters to customers across to the world, company officials announced at FIDAE 2014 in Santiago, Chile.

The US Army is remanufacturing its D-model Chinooks into the latest CH-47F configuration and buying some new F-models, and this scheme will leave a significant fleet of CH-47D helicopters available for sale.
