South Korea in ‘Final Stages’ to Sign Major Tank Deal With Poland
Citat:South Korea is in the “final stages” of negotiations to potentially sign a major deal to supply K2 tanks to Poland, according to South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration on Tuesday.
In 2022, the two countries signed a $13.7 billion arms deal – Seoul’s largest to date – which included South Korean K2 tanks and fighter jets for Poland, Ukraine’s ally and neighbor.
The negotiations for the potential upcoming deal – part of the broader 2022 agreement – are “in the final stages, with both governments and companies working to expedite its conclusion,” an official from South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration told AFP.
While the agency did not disclose the amount, it said if signed, the deal would be the “largest ever based on a single weapon system.”
South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported that the potential deal is worth around $6 billion, with the country’s Hyundai Rotem set to manufacture 117 tanks and Poland’s state-owned Polish Armaments Group producing 63 locally.
Yonhap reported that the signing ceremony is scheduled to take place in late June in Poland, but the Defense Acquisition Program Administration said the “signing schedule for the second contract has not yet been finalized.”
“This contract includes provisions such as local production and technology transfer, which have required a significant negotiation period,” it said in a statement.

Citat:Hyundai Rotem is already ordering components for the production of K2 and K2PL tanks from its sub-suppliers under the second contract with Poland.
This is information from the South Korean 'Financial News' from 3 days ago.
The second export contract for the K2/K2PL Black Panther tanks is to be signed by the end of June and Hyundai Rotem is certain that this contract will be signed.
In addition to the tanks, the contract is to include the transfer of technology for some components, assembly in Poland of around 60 K2PL tanks and production of specialist versions on the K2 chassis and provisions for MRO/ Maintenance, Repairs, Overhaul/.
In terms of the amount (around $6.5 billion) of the contract, this will be the largest individual export contract of the South Korean industry in history.
The current production capacity of the K2 Black Panther tanks is 100 tanks per year, but Hyundai Rotem is asking its subcontractors to significantly increase the production of components to reach a production capacity of 200 tanks per year, including those co-produced in Poland.
This could mean that in addition to the contract with Poland, Hyundai Rotem is expecting other contracts, perhaps from countries such as Romania, Slovakia, Morocco, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Egypt or Peru.

Jos nema potpisa sa poljacima
Citat:The K2PL agreement will be signed in early or mid-July. The reason for another delay is a last-minute application by Poland for an additional technology transfer in the amount of $700 million.

^^^Za neki dan...navodno 01/08
Citat:The K2PL contract will be signed this Friday, August 1st.
The contract for the delivery of K2 and K2PL tanks, along with accompanying vehicles and a large-scale technology transfer, will be signed on August 1st during the visit of the new Minister of Defense of the Republic of Korea to Poland.
The contract covers 180 K2 tanks, including over 60 in the Polonized and modernized K2PL version, as well as approximately 80 support vehicles – including technical support, engineering, and command vehicles.
Under the second implementation contract, Polish industry, including PGZ's Bumar-Łabędy plant, and other companies will receive a technology transfer for the production of the tank and its components. The vast majority of K2PL tanks and support vehicles will be manufactured in Poland.
The technology transfer will also include repair, overhaul, and maintenance capabilities, as well as modernization (MRO) and lifecycle management of existing tanks. The agreement will enable the Polish industry to acquire new competencies in tank production, as well as support for their operation, modernization, and Polonization throughout their entire lifecycle.
The capabilities gained by the Polish industry under this agreement will form the basis for further orders for K2PL tanks and accompanying vehicles, both for Poland and for export.
