Citat:UKBTM design bureau admits failure of engine development for the Armata tank.
Citation from Proceedings of the XXIV All-Russian Scientific and Technical Conference, April 19-21, 2023:
The new T-14 tanks on the Armata platform are equipped with the 2V-12-3A engine with an output of 1,500 hp, but these vehicles are still prototypes, and it is impossible to ensure their rapid arrival to the troops in the short term for objective reasons.
In the period of 2000-2020 developed and mastered the production of new more powerful modifications of the B-2 engine family: B-92C2 and B-92C2F. At the same time, the reserves for further increase of the power of the known design are exhausted, a significant increase in performance requires a radical change with the strengthening of all engine components, which leads to the need for serious changes in production, with the corresponding significant financial investments, which casts doubt on the economic feasibility.
On the other hand, the 2V-12-3A engine, developed in the 80s of the last century, for the past time, despite the great efforts of the developer has not gotten rid of a number of technical problems, which, coupled with economic problems of putting into production do not allow to count on the production of this engine on the scale of the B-2 family, and further technical development of this engine again requires significant changes that cast doubt on the feasibility of these actions on the criterion of "efficiency-cost".
