Citat:The German-based Diehl Defence has openned a new building at its Nonnweiler site in Saarland as part of the companies plans to expand IRIS-T Air Defence System and missile production.
The company is scaling up its production capacity to meet both European and Ukrainian demand for air defence systems. In 2022 the company produced two IRIS-T SLM systems, this year they plan to produce 10 witzh further expansion to 16 in 2028.
The pruduction of IRIS-T SL missiles heas meanwhile increased tenfold from 100 in 2022 to almost 1.000 in 2025 with plans to further increase this to 2.000 missiles in 2027.
Again, large consistant orders cause industry to scale up and deliver in volume. There is an existing backlog of 44 IRIS-T SLM Fire Units with the potetntial for that to go to 104 (if Germany does indeed go for 50 units that is) and industry is reacting accordingly.

Germany Orders Major IRIS-T Missile Package From Diehl
Citat:Germany has contracted Diehl Defence to procure the IRIS-T family of guided missiles for the German Armed Forces.
The acquisition comprises multiple contracts covering both air-to-air and ground-based air defense applications.
Air-launched variants of the missile will be integrated onto the German Air Force’s Eurofighter and Tornado fleets, while interceptor versions will equip the IRIS-T SLS (short-range) and IRIS-T SLM (medium-range) ground-based air defense systems.
