This version provides beyond-visual-range (BVR) engagement capability of around 105–120 km, depending on launch conditions. While newer variants like the C-7, C-8, and D-3 are in U.S. and allied service,

Citat:The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has purchased six YLC-18A radars from the China National Electronics Import and Export Corporation. Pakistan and China are set to start the coproduction of radar systems.
The YLC-18A radars are especially important for PAF as these medium-range radars have 3D capabilities that can find drones, cruise missiles and even low-flying aircraft. It can also be used as a low-altitude blinding radar for land air defence networks and a target search radar for air defence weapon systems.
Both countries, China and Pakistan are working on an upgradation plan. Under this plan, 10 YLC-6 radars will be replaced by the YLC-18 model.
