Citat:Czechia would like to supply Ukraine with more than 10 Aero L-39 Skyfox aircraft in the C-UAS variant. The Ukrainians have expressed interest in the L-39 Skyfox, which is manufactured by the Aero Vodochody (@AERO_Vodochody).
According to HN, Czech PM Andrej Babiš plans together with Ukrainian officials in Brussels to propose to allies - particularly those who have supplied Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets - that they help finance this project.

During the Dubai Airshow 2025, Aero introduced a new version of L-39 specifically designed for intercepting and shooting down drones (UAVs).
The exhibited L-39 Skyfox (No. 0475) was equipped with two FN Herstal HMP-250 pods with a 12.7mm machine gun, two 7-round LAU-32 rocket pods capable of firing FZ275 LGR/RR or APKWS II, and an optoelectronic Phoenix pod from SiNAB Technologies. The Phoenix pod is used for JTAC training, but can be expanded with EW, CAS, and C-UAS functions.

Citat:AERO Vodochody (@AERO_Vodochody) is offering the Polish Air Force the L-39 Skyfox trainer aircraft as a platform for training pilots for the future Polish fleet of F-35A Lightning II aircraft.

Compared to the M-346, the L-39 Skyfox is particularly attractive due to its low acquisition and operating costs. Thanks to its pair of Honeywell F124 engines (2×28 kN), the M-346 is a much more powerful aircraft, but it is also more expensive to operate than the Skyfox, which is powered by a single Williams International FJ44-4M engine (17 kN).
The Skyfox could more cost-effectively handle part of the training and free up the expensive Bieliks for the most advanced phase of F-35 pilot training. Aero is also offering an integrated training system that links the aircraft with modern simulators and ground-based training equipment.
