According to The Jerusalem Post, Israel's defense establishment is assessing the U.S.-built P-8 Poseidon as a potential addition to the Israeli Air Force.
An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) source indicated that the aircraft is being considered primarily for its ability to detect and track submarines while enhancing long-range maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) operations.
Developed by Boeing for the U.S. Navy and based on the Boeing 737 airframe, the P-8 Poseidon is among the world's most capable maritime patrol aircraft.
The platform is currently operated by several countries and is designed to conduct anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASuW), maritime patrol, and intelligence missions over vast maritime domains.

Manned P-8A Poseidon and unmanned MQ-4C Triton team up in new demo
Citat:During the laboratory-based demonstration, a P-8A operator issued machine-readable and machine-actionable mission tasking to a simulated MQ-4C Triton using universal command and control interface (UCI)-formatted messages.
The P-8A directed the Triton to transit to a designated area. After receiving the tasking, the unmanned aircraft autonomously planned and executed the mission, employed onboard sensors, processed collected information and returned mission results to the P-8A.
