Lockheed Martin to Upgrade US Air Force C-5M Cargo Plane Citat:Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $34.7 million contract to perform modifications and upgrades on US Air Force C-5M Super Galaxy cargo planes.
The initiative is part of the Replacement Multifunctional Controls and Displays program, which seeks to adapt existing interfaces with the C-5M avionics backplane.
Under the contract, the company will produce a hardware and software prototype architecture to update the multi-function displays on the aircraft’s cockpit avionics.
The work will be carried out in Texas and is expected to be completed by May 2025.

Tow accident on Guam takes C-5 Super Galaxy out of Air Force service Citat:An Air Force C-5M Super Galaxy was damaged in a recent training accident at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, where the behemoth transport aircraft was towed into a light pole.
Members of the 734th Air Mobility Squadron were using the Super Galaxy for tow training when its left wing struck a pole on the flight line around 9:20 p.m. March 1, according to an email Tuesday to Stars and Stripes from Amelia Dickson, spokeswoman for the 515th Air Mobility Operations Wing.
