On Thursday, June 25, 2026, three Grumman C-2A(R) Greyhounds launched for the USS Nimitz operating off the U.S. East Coast to perform one final series of carrier launches and recoveries—one last opportunity to experience the unmistakable thrill of the catapult shot and the arrested landing.
LT Nik "BOODY" Fagen had the distinct honor of flying the Skipper's aircraft, BuNo 162159, Side Number 40, and making what is believed to be the final C-2A arrested landing aboard an active U.S. Navy aircraft carrier.

Citat:U.S. Navy's C-2A Greyhound carrier onboard delivery (COD) aircraft has conducted its final in-service flight, on July 28, marking the end of six decades of operational service.

The final in-service flight from Naval Air Station (NAS) Norfolk in Virginia to the Sherman Field at NAS Pensacola in Florida also featured a formation flight with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels demonstration team.
The aircraft, that conducted the flight, was transferred to the National Naval Aviation Museum (NNAM), onboard NAS Pensacola, where it will be rehabilitated and eventually serve as an exhibit in 2027. The aircraft was attached to the Navy's Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VRC) 40 "Rawhides", which was the only remaining aviation squadron to fly the C-2A aircraft. VRC-40 is now being disestablished after more than six decades of COD services and logistics support to the fleet.
