Laser-Guided Rocket Hits the Mark for Australian Defence Force

Citat:The Australian Defence Force demonstrated the precision strike capability of BAE Systems’ Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS™) laser-guided rocket, firing the system from an Airbus Tiger Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter (ARH) for the first time. Using a Forges de Zeebrugge (FZ) rocket motor, warhead, and launcher, the APKWS rocket was 10 for 10 in the live fire flight trials.

Unhappy Australia Joins Study of Tiger Attack Helicopter Upgrade
Arrow http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/defense/201.....er-upgrade
Citat:It has said that the army’s 22 Tigers could be replaced if their performance does not meet requirements by the time of its Combat Assurance Program in 2019. The MLU is planned to be available from that year, with the modified helicopters designated the Tiger Mk3.
Citat:Australia’s annual defense report showed that its Tigers had flown 3,000 hours in the 12-month period, well under the 6,000 hours sought. The Army further said the helicopter’s twin Turbomeca MTR 390s have the highest operating cost of any helicopter engine in its inventory. The service has two squadrons based at Darwin in the far north of Australia. It is concerned about the time it takes for components sent to Europe to be returned, as well as with many unreliabilities. A cabin filling with smoke has caused several forced landings. The first Tiger was delivered in 2004 and the last in 2011 but the type has still not achieved full operational capability. This has now been delayed again, from this year to next.
Leti pola od plana. Četiri godina od poslednje isporuke i još nije u celosti operativan.

Francuzi modernizuju, prave plan sa ostalim korisnicima za dalju modernizaciju

Citat:Paris will shortly begin work on a two-pronged enhancement programme that will from 2017 see 36 of the early-production Tigers raised to the HAD configuration. Through this, they will gain more powerful engines and enhanced offensive capability through the integration of Lockheed Martin AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-surface/anti-tank missiles and 68mm or 70mm rockets, a laser designator and an identification, friend or foe Mode 5 transponder. This will result in the service having an eventual 67-strong fleet in the enhanced standard.

This will be followed by a further upgrade, principally to the helicopter’s avionics and communications systems, but also adding laser-guided rockets, lifting the fleet to a level the service describes as “Tiger Mk2”.

Maj Gen Olivier de la Motte, commander of French army aviation, says the budget for the Mk2 work has been allocated, and that the service hopes to field the enhancements in the 2018-2019 timeframe.

Citat:
However, in the longer term France is working with other Tiger partner nations – Australia, Germany and Spain – to define the specification for a Mk3 variant. Key to this, says de la Motte, will be to agree a common anti-tank missile for the type.

znači tiger je promašaj - više manje. Dok se Mi-24 uz novu brojku (35) proizvodi i prodaje naprjed, Cobra doživljava stalne promjene a Apache se dokazao, ovo stagnira od prvog leta.
