Citat:Brazil’s economic troubles appear to be dampening the Brazilian air force's hopes of recapitalising its entire outdated fighter force, with one official saying the final number of Saab Gripen NGs may be closer to 40 than the original F-X2 programme target of 108 new fighters.
Maj Brig Waldeísio Ferreira Campos, vice-director of the air force’s air education and training command, has his doubts that the Brazilian government will be able to procure the expected total number of Gripens. “I don’t know. Maybe we will go to 40, but not 100,” he told Flightglobal at the Dubai Air Chiefs Conference on 7 November.

Brazil's Gripen E/Fs to be operational from the get-go
Citat:The first Saab Gripen E/F fighters received into Brazilian Air Force (FAB) service will have an initial operational capability (IOC) from the outset, according to Brigadier General Marcio Bruno Bonotto, commander of the FAB's procurement command (COPAC).
Speaking during a set of briefings on Gripen export activities at Saab's aeronautics division in Linkoping on 9 May, Brig Gen Bonotto said "the first Gripen aircraft that we will receive in 2021 will be IOC from Day One", adding that the FAB's Gripen fleet will comprise "operational aircraft and there will not be any 'Independence Day' aeroplanes that are just for parades".

Brazil reveals Gripen production schedule, Embraer’s manufacturing role
Citat:The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has revealed production details for the 36 Saab Gripen E/F (F-39) combat aircraft it ordered for around USD5.4 billion in 2014, and told Jane’s on 5 October that deliveries will run from 2019 to 2024.
Brazil’s Gripens will begin a certification process in January 2019, and single-seat and twin-seat flight test instrumentation aircraft will perform first flights in July 2019 and October 2021, respectively.
Saab will fully manufacture 13 aircraft, and the remainder will have Brazilian participation.
An initial 11 serial-production single-seat Gripen E aircraft are to be delivered between October and November 2021, and the remaining eight single-seat aircraft will be initially built by Saab with on-the-job training for Brazilians and final assembly done in Brazil.
