Citat:Royal Navy to Retire Eight Warships by 2031
The UK Ministry of Defence has confirmed plans to decommission eight Royal Navy vessels over the next five years as part of its fleet modernization efforts.
The first ships scheduled to leave service in 2028 are the River-class offshore patrol vessels:
HMS Tyne
HMS Mersey
HMS Severn
The remaining Hunt-class mine countermeasures vessels will be retired by 2031, including:
HMS Middleton
HMS Ledbury
HMS Cattistock
HMS Brocklesby
HMS Hurworth
HMS Middleton, which recently completed a five-year deployment in the Gulf and is currently undergoing a major overhaul, is among the vessels slated for retirement.
The planned decommissioning marks another step in the Royal Navy's transition toward a more modern and capable fleet.
