Royal Thai Navy Considering Accepting Chinese-made Engines for its Submarine Purchases
Citat:The Royal Thai Navy (RTN) is considering accepting Chinese-made engines for the S26T Yuan-class submarine to replace the German-made MTU396 diesel engine, which had been rejected for export to China by the German company.

RTN spokesperson Pokkrong Monthatphalin told the press today, August 10th, that the China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co. (CSOC) had previously offered its CHD620 diesel engine for the submarine.

The company held a talk with the Navy on Tuesday, August 9th, and gave details about the specifications of their modified engines for the S26T submarine. The RTN is currently in the assessment process of the engine details and the process is expected to be finalized on September 15th, the spokesperson stated.

China Renew Offering for Submarine Package to Thailand

Henan Diesel Engine Co., Ltd (HND) subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) was passed certification for National Military Standard (GJB: Guo-jia Jun-yong) of its CHD620V16H6 diesel generator engine on 27 July 2023, HND publishes photos of certification ceremony on its website (http://www.hnd.com.cn) on 8 August 2023.

The CHD620V16H6 is a variant of HND's CHD 620 diesel generator engine for Submarine use to replace the MTU16V396SE84 that Germany refused to export to China since 2020 for fitting on export variants of People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Type 039B SSK included one of Royal Thai Navy (RTN) S26T submarine and 8 of Pakistan Navy (PN) Hangor-class submarines.

RTN commanders also said to local media that in addition to supporting S26T Submarine's spare parts for 8 years, China will not compensate any 1st S26T Submarine delivery delay to 2027, and there are no options for free donation ex-PLAN Type 039A Yuan or Type 039G Song submarines but will be offer to sell Type 035 Ming at a friendly price except extra cost to be paid for spares, support and training.
