Boeing aims to keep making F/A-18 jets through 2020
Citat:Boeing could keep building its Super Hornet fighter jet and a modified electronic attack version through 2020, the company said, given prospects for over 200 foreign sales and what it sees as up to 150 more sales to the U.S. Navy.
Mock up F-18 F sa CFT, CWB, IRST i novim senzorima. Trebalo bi da poleti ovog leta.
Citat:Configured with the CFTs and weapons pod carrying four AMRAAMs, the jet performs roughly the same as a Super Hornet carrying four external AIM-120s.
Anyways, Boeing showed off this brand new real F/A-18F equipped with mockup CFTs, weapons pods and other hardware.
Citat:Boeing is not saying much officially, but an F/A-18F fitted with prototype conformal fuel tanks made its first flight from St Louis on Monday. The company plans to add a centerline weapons pod and carry out a series of aerodynamic and radar cross section tests this month in support of the proposed Advanced Super Hornet program.
Photos from the AeroExperience blog show that the CFT shapes (neither they nor the weapons pod are functional at this stage) differ from the mock-ups shown earlier, with a deeper forward profile. In response to Navy inputs, they have been made somewhat larger, increasing the total fuel in both CFTs from 3,000 lb to 3,500 lb.
Boeing, US Navy Demo New Targeting and Data Systems on EA-18G
Citat:The U.S. Navy recently flight test a EA-18G Growler aircraft with sensor system upgrades and a new data network.
This new network will allow Growler crews to share targeting data in real time. The technology will be incorporated into deployed Growler electronic attack aircraft in 2018.

Citat:Boeing and the US Navy have confirmed plans to demonstrate the use of conformal fuel tanks, a weapons pod and radar cross-section enhancements on the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet late this summer.
