The mission of the 414th Combat Training Squadron, the unit that plans and executes Red Flag, is to maximize the combat readiness and survivability of participants by providing a realistic training environment. The flight set a record, coming only twenty-four months after contract award—the shortest foreign military sales production program in the history of the F-16 program. The aircraft landed Code 1 and returned to the air the same day for its second flight, which also returned Code 1.
