Senior Airmen Micheal Leroy and Trevor Mendez of the 49th Maintenance Squadron Fabrication Flight, perform maintenance on the F-117 Nighthawk at Holloman AFB, New Mexico, on 13 March 2014. The F-117 has been on static display in Holloman’s Heritage Park since its retirement in 2008. As a result of sun and inclement weather damage, the 49 MXS removed and towed the aircraft to the hangar to begin the restoration process. Airmen will perform structural maintenance on the Nighthawk and give the aircraft a fresh paint job before returning it for display in Heritage Park.

Both the Raptor (Air Force serial number 91-4009) and the Nighthawk (82-0811) were assigned to the 412th Flight Test Wing at Edwards AFB, California, but the F-117 was flown from nearby Palmdale. The first F-117 combat mission came on 19 December 1989, when two Air Force F-117 pilots each dropped two 2,000-pound GBU-27 laser-guided bombs during Operation Just Cause in Panama. The first combat mission for the F-22 came on 23 September 2014—three months shy of twenty-five years later—during the first US attacks against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, targets in Syria.

Malo off topic. Nije samo srbska PVO detektovala F-117. Redovno su detektirani i od slovenske PVO koja je 1999 imala u arsenalu radare AN/TPS-70. Citat:...F-117 so oddajala zelo slab in prekinjen odsev...

Зар није била пракса да куда год лете ти авиони радари се гасе или они лете у близини неких танкера или веће групе авиона ? Баш због тога да не би цуреле информације о радарском одразу?
