Senator: About 10 Percent of B-1s are Fully Combat-Ready

Citat:Only six of the Air Force’s 61 B-1 bombers are fully mission-capable, a South Dakota senator said July 30.
The B-1 fleet is in the midst of an intensive slate of maintenance work and upgrades. Of the 61 jets, 15 are in depot maintenance and 39 aircraft are down for inspections or other issues, Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) said during a Senate Armed Services Committee confirmation hearing for Gen. John Hyten, the US Strategic Command chief who is under consideration to become vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
In response, Hyten implored lawmakers to provide B-1 maintenance funding to reverse the fleet’s problems.

Malo su glupavo isforsirali stratešku platformu za polivanje kozojeba. Pored tolikih F-16, F-15E i mornaričkih F/A-18 stvarno je malo čudno. Razumem da nema mnogo raspoloživih jedinica za angažovanje po svetu i da jedna misija B-1B menja 4-5 misija manjih letilica, samim tim smanjuje broj angažovanih pilota i pratećeg osoblja, ali ipak je B-1B retka, skupa zverka, deo deterence-a USA. To je avion za sudnji dan i držanje neprijatelja kalibra Rusije i Kine podalje od sebe a ne za lokalne konflikte.
Čini se da su američke političke elite malo izgubile kompas. Očigledno su kapaciteti Pentagona značajno srezani u odnosu na recimo pre dve decenije, a politika (naročito duboka država) i dalje forsira razvlačenje vojske po celom svetu. Gde god je neki pi*vajz oni šalju snage a zaboravljaju da nije 91.-a. Em više nema tih kapaciteta em ne možeš više da se zavališ pa da arčiš strateške snage na lokalne konflikte jer sa druge strane nisu više bankrotirani Rusi i siromašni Kinezi već ozbiljne vojske u usponu. Devedesete su bile eksces i neće se možda nikad više vratiti. Jednostavno je jedna vojska koja je spremana 50 godina za rat sa ogromnom sovjetskom i varšavskom armadom (od 250-300 milijardi $ godišnjeg budžeta) preko noći ostala bez neprijatelja i svrhe. Bilo je pregršt viška vojnih resursa za projekciju sile gde god im se prohte. Ali to je već daleka prošlost a političari to nikako da shvate.
Očigledna je frustracija Pentagona zbog ovoga, a rekao bih i javnosti generalno. Zato je Tramp i dobio na politici izolacionizma.
Ono što me impresionira je što oni ne zabijaju glavu u pesak i ne prosipaju priču o "čuvanju vojne tajne" i "ćuti o tome se ne priča javno" nego galame i traže da se stanje poboljša. Jedino ispravno i patriotsko razmišljanje. Alarmiraju javnost da je bezbednost države ugrožena zbog pogrešnih odluka. Nema politike "Vrlo dobro, služimo Srbiji" ni floskula "Borbena gotovost na maksimalnom nivou" , "Vojska uspešno izvršava sve postavljene zadatke" i sl. beskičmenjačkih trabunjanja tako tipičnih za naše generale.

Citat:Over the last 35 years, the B-1B Lancer community has continuously reinvented itself as a premiere long-range precision strike platform. However, continuous bomber support operations over the last 20 years have taken a toll on the airframe’s structure due to overuse in a manner not commensurate with its planned design.
Currently a portion of the B-1Bs are in a state that will require tens of millions of dollars per aircraft to get back to a status quo fleet in the short term until the B-21 Raider comes online. As such, Air Force officials proposed the retirement of 17 structurally deficient B-1Bs in 2021 so that maintenance dollars and manpower can be focused on the healthiest aircraft in the fleet.
In addition, in coordination with our contractors, the Program Office, Combatant Command planners and our most advanced weapons’ school Airmen, the Air Force has changed various flight employment tactics of the remaining B-1Bs to preserve the longevity of the aircraft. These changes will significantly extend the life of the B-1B and reduce costs associated with potential structural repairs during the transition to the B-21.
The Air Force is not planning to close any B-1B squadrons, reduce major manpower pools or close any bomber bases. The reduction of B-1s from Ellsworth and Dyess Air Force Bases will be spread across both units.
