Citat:US Air Force plans to order 14 T-7A aircraft in FY26, at an airframe fly-away cost of $16.5 Million per unit and a gross system unit cost of about $26 Million, to kick start the trainer's Low-Rate Initial Production phase. USAF ultimately wants to field 351 T-7A trainers.

Citat:"Following the construction of two BT-X prototype/demonstrators, the first of which flew in December 2016, Boeing has built five Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) aircraft to conduct a wide array of tests on the aircraft and its associated systems. Currently the first two of these aircraft—A-1 and A-2—are at Edwards and are heavily involved in flight testing. Just ahead of the Paris Air Show, around 79 percent of the developmental test points had been completed. The recent issue of the Block 18.2 military flight release software load has allowed an expansion of the envelope, and these “outer edges” are now the principal focus of flight trials"
"Aircraft A-3 is currently at the Boeing facility in St Louis, Missouri, where it is assigned to technical order certification, while A-4 is due to go to Eglin AFB, Florida, to undergo a third round of climatic testing [now completed] in a chamber"
"A-5 is being prepared to go to Randolph AFB, Texas, which is to be the first operating location for the Red Hawk...By early this month the T-7 fleet had flown 736 test hours, of which 158 were EMD sorties and 578 were for production-representative jet trials"

Citat:"The T-7 handles exceptionally well – smooth, stable, and a true pleasure to fly..It is an integral part of transforming pilot training to sustainably produce pilots in the quantities the Air Force requires..AETC looks forward to a safe and reliable T-7 aircraft arriving at Randolph [Joint Base San Antonio] in December 2025 that will jumpstart the aircraft’s integration into pilot training" ~ Lt. Gen. Brian Robinson, Commander, Air Education & Training Command

Citat:If selected for the Royal Air Force requirement, the T-7As will undergo final assembly in the United Kingdom, in an effort led by BAE Systems. This would ensure the company remains involved in the production of jet trainers in the future, after the Hawk production line ended in 2020.
If chosen as the Royal Air Force’s next jet trainer, the T-7A would replace the Hawk T2, which is due to be retired by 2040. It would almost certainly also be the frontrunner to replace the service’s aging Hawk T1s, which continue to serve with the Red Arrows aerobatic display team, and are set to do so until withdrawn around 2030.

Red Tails receive first operational Red Hawk
Citat:On 5 December 2025, Air Education and Training Command's 99th Flying Training Squadron Red Tails, part of the 12th Flying Training Wing at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, received the first Boeing T-7A Red Hawk to be used for Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT).
The arrival of T-7A, with serial number 21-7005, marks a historic milestone for USAF's Air Education and Training Command as it will replace the Northrop T-38 Talon. The first T-38A production examples were already delivered in 1961 to USAF's, then named, Air Training Command (ATC).
