Citat:Austria’s air combat modernization program has reached a decisive turning point, as the Ministry of Defence seeks to replace the fifteen Eurofighter EF-2000 Tranche 1 aircraft currently in service with the Luftstreitkräfte. These first-generation fighters, delivered between 2007 and 2009, now suffer from significant technical limitations that make them inadequate for today’s operational requirements. Chancellor Christian Stocker and his government have recently indicated a preference for a twin-engine aircraft, effectively excluding several potential competitors and narrowing the selection to a face-off between two European contenders: Dassault Aviation’s Rafale F4 and Airbus Defense and Space’s Typhoon Tranche 4.
