Russian Helicopters, parent company of Russia’s two helicopter design bureaus and five helicopter-manufacturing plants, is moving forward with a new-generation helicopter that is intended to replace the hugely successful Mil Mi-8/17 series. The new project, dubbed Rachel (Russian advanced commercial helicopter), clearly has many military applications.

Rachel is a product of the wider PSV (Perspectivny Skorostnoy Vertolyot, advanced high-speed helicopter) program, which was implemented to provide a new generation of helicopters with improved performance, in terms of both speed/load and economy/efficiency. PSV is expected to produce three new helicopters in varying weight classes. Rachel corresponds to the medium class. Rachel is envisioned as a 10- to 12-tonne machine, with three- to four-tonne payload and the ability to carry 21 to 24 passengers. Offshore work is an obvious application, but military maritime, medevac and SAR versions are also planned.

When launched in 2008 the PSV program had ambitious goals in terms of design speeds of up to 243 knots(450km/h), to be achieved through new powerplant configurations and rotor concepts. The Rachel project is less ambitious, with a proposed top speed of 200 knots (370km/h). Performance increases are to come through advanced aerodynamic shaping of the airframe, and a new main rotor design.

To možda objašnjava zašto je noviji predlog Ka-92 sa klasicnim rotorima i ne više rigidnim kao pre.

Po meni je ovaj modernizovani osprey bolje rešenje od bilo kog mogućeg Helikoptera, u smislu imaš dva tilt rotora i to je to, sve ostale verzije imaju Dupli koaksialni rotor plus repni rotor, što znači GOOOMILA kvačila, sihrona motora etc..Osprey je majka...U opšte ne vidim razlog da amerikanci prave neki hsuper komplikovani kelikopter kada več imaju razvijenu tehnologiju Tilt Motora rotora, uz korišćenje kompozitnih materijala i slično, mogu da naprave značajno lakši, brži i okretniji osprex, e sada naravno Opsrx ne bi zamenio udarne helikoptere iz razloga nemogućnosti da leti kao što to radi helikopter, ali poslove transporta manjih jedinica na nivou voda sa pristojnim naoružanjem može da bude jako dobro oružije.

Mislim da sam Na Aviation week sajtu video predlog novog helikoptera sa koaksialnim rotorom ali to je neka mala privatna inženjerska kompanija, on mi deluje kao ubedljivo najbolje rešenje od svega ovde, jedino što mu trup podseća na KA92 ali na zadnjem deli trupa ima sa svake strne po dva klasična proppelerska motora ali zaštićeni kružnim kućištem, a na prednjem delu iznad kabine ima dva kratka krila, znaći nem taj treći, 1 rotor na "dupetu" nego dva, po jedan sasvake staren ali ne na pozadini, nego bokovima ali pozadi trupa, tako da se čak stiče osećaj da bi mogao leteti samo i pomoći ta dva motora ,bez koaksijalnog rotora...probaću da nađem sliku, evo našao

Holding "Helicopters of Russia" and the Defense Ministry of Industry jointly last year opened a research work on the creation of this helicopter.

Creation program PSV goes in two directions: first - a slight increase in speed rotorcraft (about 25% compared with existing technologies). The second direction - creating an aircraft that has already significantly exceeds today's helicopters in terms of speed and a number of other key features. Promising high-speed helicopter will need to have a maximum takeoff weight to 10.6 tons, passenger capacity - 21 people, and a practical range - 900 kilometers. The maximum cruising speed of PSV must be 340-360 kilometers per hour, and the cost of its operation should be 20-25% lower.

JSC "Klimov" is engaged in the development, manufacture and servicing of engines for most helicopters "Miles" and "Kamov" jet engines for fighter aircraft, has its own design office, production and experimental bases. "Klimov" is the only Russian developer of gas turbine engines of a full cycle: from the center line of the certification.

The concern Radio-Electronic Technologies (KRET) will present their best developments in the field of helicopter avionics at HeliRussia-2014, an international exhibition for the helicopter industry. The event is to take place May 22-24 at the Crocus Expo exhibition center in Moscow. The most important development KRET will present at the exhibition will be an avionics system for a new high-speed helicopter.

20 enterprises of KRET will participate in HeliRussia-2014, presenting their latest developments in helicopter avionics.

The main showpiece will be an avionics system for a new high-speed helicopter (KBO PSV) that is currently being developed in Russia. It is based on the principles of integrated modular avionics and features an open, adaptive architecture of the onboard computer system. Specialists worked on its design at the Ulyanovsk Engineering Design Bureau, which is part of KRET.

The onboard equipment is based on the principles of a glass cockpit, with dashboard indicators appearing on a high-resolution widescreen. This modern system informs pilots about the helicopter’s surroundings and issues critical flight warnings.

GPS and GLONASS systems help to determine the helicopter’s coordinates and support automatic and manual correction. The new system also provides visual surveillance of either the helicopter’s cargo compartment or passenger cabin.
