Afghan Air Force To Get Rocket Equipped MD 530F Helicopters

Citat:The Afghan Air Force will equip its MD 530F Cayuse Warrior helicopters with air-to surface rockets.

The MD Helicopters will be equipped with seven-tube M260 launcher for the 70mm (2.75 inch) rockets under a US $13.2 million contract awarded by the US Army, US department of Defense said in a statement Monday.

The upgrade will be carried out on 19 helicopters added to the Mission Equipment Package (MEP) that already features twin FN Herstal 12.7 mm (.50 cal) Heavy Machine Gun Pods (HMPs). The installation that includes fixed forward weapon sights is said to be completed by 12 July 2016.

MDHI reappraising its delayed MD 540A helo

Citat:MD Helicopters Inc (MDHI) is "taking a fresh approach" to its developmental MD 540A armed reconnaissance and light attack platform to incorporate some recent lessons learned from operationally fielding its other helicopter types, a company spokesperson told IHS Jane's on 21 July.

The latest 'Little Bird'-derivative MD 540A helicopter (formerly designated the MD 540F) was first rolled out in early 2012, and was meant to have been certified and ready for fielding in late 2015/early 2016. In January 2014, however, MDHI revealed that this has been put back by approximately 12 months - to late 2016 or early 2017 - for unspecified reasons. With this latest re-appraisal of the platform, Roger O'Dell, director of programme management for MDHI, noted that the prototype will not now be ready to fly until early 2017, although he did not disclose a probable timeline for fielding.

Afghanistan to convert unarmed MD 530F helos into gunships

Citat:The Afghan Air Force (AAF) is to convert the five unarmed MD Helicopters Inc (MDHI) MD 530F platforms it uses for training into light attack gunships, a company spokesperson told IHS Jane's on 13 August.

The five training helicopters that are currently flown out of Shindand Air Base in Herat Province (six were delivered, but one was lost to an improvised explosive device [IED] in 2013) will be retrofitted with the Enhanced Mission Equipment Package (EMEP) by MDHI at its facility in Mesa, Arizona, before being returned to theatre in early 2016, the spokesperson said.

These converted helicopters will join 12 armed MD 530F Cayuse Warrior helicopters

An Afghan public affairs officer tried to shush the colonel as he spoke to a journalist at the Afghan Air Force base at Kabul airport. A United States Air Force public affairs officer looked on aghast.

But Colonel Qalandari kept on: “I will tell the truth. This is my country, and these are my men, and they deserve the truth.”

U svakom slučaju, ne može se porediti sa Mi-35 i Mi-17.

MD-530F je pomočni helikopter za specijalne zadatke i specifične misije, koga se može lako ukrcati u omanji transportni avion sa svom opremom i naoružanjem. Nije to helikopter za redovnu vazdušnu konjicu, ima slabiji dolet, nedovoljno robustan i male nosivosti. Za ANA bi bio najprimerniji Mi-24/35 ili pošto sve finansuje SAD, Bell 412 naoružan i delimično oklopljen (u prostoru odnosno sedištima pilota i kopilota te ispod i sa strane tanka za gorivo).

Авганистан већ поседује 7 Ми-24 али ће они због истека ресурса брзо бити повучени из употребе.

Ako sam dobro razumeo samo jedan leti, ali jedva i zato čovek upozorava.

Да њима треба једно две оперативне ескадриле Ми-24. Али мислим да им са тим не гине владавина Талибана.
