Shorter-range rockets are handled by the Iron Dome system. The source said more Iron Dome batteries have been upgraded. Although he declined to say how they have been improved, he hinted that the system's interception range has been significantly extended over the past two years.

The IAF now has more Iron Dome batteries, although the source declined to reveal how many are now operational.

The command-and-control systems for the Arrow, David's Sling, and Iron Dome systems have all been linked to a simulator, along with three US air defence systems, for the 'Juniper Cobra 2016' joint missile defence exercise that is currently under way in Israel.

The US has linked its Aegis, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), and Patriot systems to the simulator for the bi-annual drill, the IAF source said.

The development comes after a series of successful trials were completed in December, said the Ministry's Home Administration, which is in charge of developing missile defenses.

The IAF's Air Defense Branch has now begun receiving the main components of David's Sling.

Last week, an Israeli security source said David's Sling "will become operational this year," and is "an inseparable part" of Israeli air defenses.

HASC(House Armed Services Committee) ce dati Izraelu jos 200 miliona ekstra pored vec zatrazenog budzeta za 2017.
