Citat:EC-2 stand-off jammer (SOJ) aircraft, based on Kawasaki C-2 mid-size military transport aircraft, is equipped with an electronic attack payload designed to disrupt radars and communications. It is expected to replace JASDF's EC-1 electronic warfare aircraft.
The aircraft conducted its maiden flight in March this year. It is expected to enter JASDF service in 2027, and will be assigned to the Electronic Warfare Operations Group at Iruma Air Base.
The JASDF is seeking to acquire up to four EC-2 aircraft to enhance its airborne electronic attack (EA) capability.
