MEAN, imaš li gde te snimke testa bombardovanja pri tim brzinama ili je to samo na papiru?

Nije se radilo o bombardovanju vec o lansiranju V-V rakete. Rakete je nosio u trupu. Snimak (e sad pri kojoj brzini nemam pojma):

Blackbird Variant Background Information and History:

A-12 Blackbird

Citat:The A-12 is the first of all Blackbird Variants. First flown in 1962, it had a very short career, and was retired in 1968. The A-12s sat in storage for over twenty years in Palmdale before being transported to museums around the country.


YF-12A Blackbird

Citat:The YF-12A is a prototype for a proposed Mach 3+ interceptor/bomber. Only three were originally built and only one remains today. The YF-12A program was cancelled in the mid-1960s forbudgetaryreasons. However, the aircraft went on toserve NASA before its eventual retirement in 1979.

SR-71 Blackbird

Citat:Following the development of the A-12 came the SR-71, an improved platform for reconnaissance. The capabilities of the SR-71 versus the A-12 have been debated many times. Each of these aircraft served different purposes and regardless which is better, the SR-71 is still a magnificent aircraft.

M-21 Blackbird

Citat:Although the M-21 looks like an A-12, it was not modified from one. After A-12 #60-6939 was built, two M-21s were built. These aircraft had two cockpits: one for a Pilot and one for a Launch Control Officer. Due to the fatal accident with aircraft #60-6941, the M-21/D-21 program was cancelled.

D-21 Drone

Citat:Due to the agreement between the Soviet Union and the United States restricting the use of manned vehicles over the Soviet landmass, this unmanned aircraft was developed. The drone was carried and launched by two A-12-like modified aircraft and a number of B-52Hs.

Citat:The following story, that has been circulating on mailing lists and forums for a few days, recalls secret mission by a U.S. Air Force SR-71 during the Yom Kippur War in 1973. It was written by Col. Jim Wilson, a former Blackbird pilot who has written a self-biography titled “SR-71 Mission to the Middle East”.

I found it extremely interesting because it recounts strategic range spy missions over the Middle East; something that is quite current, considered the tensions in Syria and the risk of an eventual U.S. attack on Damascus Chemical Weapons arsenal.

Citat:Crews flying at altitudes of 80,000ft (24,000m) face two main survival problems: maintaining consciousness at high altitude, and surviving a possible emergency ejection. Major Brian Shul – the author of Sled Driver, a book about his experience as a pilot of the SR-71 – said that wafting along at mach 3.5 flew by so fast, that you can cover several countries in the Middle East in mere minutes.

Citat:At full velocity, the airplane surface heats up to temperatures of 260°C+ (500 °F). Things inside of the cockpit would heat up to 120°C if the airplane didn't have proper air conditioning system.

Citat:A total of 3,551 mission sorties were flown to spy on military installations, troop movements and nuclear silos during the cold war with Soviet Union. The airplane’s spy equipment allowed it to survey 100,000 square miles (260,000 km2) per hour of the Earth's surface from an altitude of 80,000 feet (24,000 m).

Citat:Mission Profile

Mission profiles vary greatly, depending on distance between operating base and target areas as well as other factors. From a forward operating location (FOL), it may be possible to access a target area using a single-legged, 1-hour mission. Where range to target is greater, mission is multi-legged. Where extra range is required for a mission, top-off refueling is performed after takeoff, before ascent to the first supersonic leg. During supersonic leg, airplane altitude increases as fuel consumed. Reconnaissance legs are flown at higher altitude and speed to optimize survivability. The above is a simplified diagram of both single and multi-legged missions. The diagram shows the airplane returning to original base; however, depending on mission plan, it may land at an alternate base.

Meni je Concorde ostavio jedan od najlepših utisaka svojom lepotom, elegancijom, gracioznošću ali i cepanjem atoma vazduha sa onim famoznim R&R motorima!
Inače, ni Crna ptica nije zaostajala puno po eleganciji a pogotovo pri uzletanju i famoznom preletu!

Flying the SR-71 Blackbird




Citat:In April 1986, following an attack on American soldiers in a Berlin disco, President Reagan ordered the bombing of Muammar Qaddafi's terrorist camps in Libya My duty was to fly over Libya and take photos recording the damage our F-111's had inflicted. Qaddafi had established a 'line of death,' a territorial marking across the Gulf of Sidra , swearing to shoot down any intruder that crossed the boundary. On the morning of April 15, I rocketed past the line at 2,125 mph.

I was piloting the SR-71 spy plane, the world's fastest jet, accompanied by Maj Walter Watson, the aircraft's reconnaissance systems officer (RSO). We had crossed into Libya and were approaching our final turn over the bleak desert landscape when Walter informed me that he was receiving missile launch signals. I quickly increased our speed, calculating the time it would take for the weapons-most likely SA-2 and SA-4 surface-to-air missiles capable of Mach 5 - to reach our altitude. I estimated that we could beat the rocket-powered missiles to the turn and stayed our course, betting our lives on the plane's performance.

After several agonizingly long seconds, we made the turn and blasted toward the Mediterranean 'You might want to pull it back,' Walter suggested. It was then that I noticed I still had the throttles full forward. The plane was flying a mile every 1.6 seconds, well above our Mach 3.2 limit. It was the fastest we would ever fly. I pulled the throttles to idle just south of Sicily , but we still overran the refueling tanker awaiting us over Gibraltar.

SR-71A was the main production variant.
SR-71B was a trainer variant.
SR-71C was a hybrid aircraft composed of the rear fuselage of the first YF-12A (S/N 60-6934) and the forward fuselage from an SR-71 static test unit. The YF-12 had been wrecked in a 1966 landing accident. This Blackbird was seemingly not quite straight and had a yaw at supersonic speeds.[89] It was nicknamed "The Bastard".

Accidents and aircraft disposition

Twelve SR-71s were lost and one pilot died in accidents during the aircraft's service career.Eleven of these accidents happened between 1966 and 1972.
