10/20/84, NAS Pt. Mugu, CA. "Test Eagle"

F-15B 71-0290 was attracting a crowd while on static display during the 1984 Pt. Mugu open house.

This aircraft was built as the first TF-15A and first flew on 10/18/73. She was used primarily for test purposes during her operational service. After this photo, she was modified into the "Agile Eagle" NF-15B with canards (and other mods) and first flew in this configuration on 9/7/88. Still later, she was used in a very successful program to test thrust vectoring nozzles. She was transferred to NASA on 1/15/93 as NASA 837 and registered as N837NA on 7/23/0. Her last flight with NASA was 1/30/09, almost 24 1/2 years after this photo. As of 12/9/15, N837NA/71-0290 was reportedly in storage at NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center.

During the Obama administration, Israel received new capabilities from the US, including 10 F-15 fighters, several Lockheed Martin C-130 cargo aircraft, AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and joint direct attack munitions, according to a White House fact sheet published this week.

The 10 F-15Ds are excess defense articles, rather than foreign military sales, and the USAF has delivered eight to Israel so far, defence sources told FlightGlobal.
