Par cinjenica, definitivno je napusten dosadasnji sovjetski/ruski razvoj sirokotrupnog aviona koji je krenuo sa Il86 i dalje nastavljen sa Il96 sto mozemo videti prvenstveno napustanjem dosadasnjih dimenzija trupa (poprecni presek) i preuzimanjem novog oblika preseka u vidu elipse i unutrasnjih dimenzija kabine kao u A350 koje su prilagodjene za trenutni standard sa 9 sedista. Dakle govorimo o potpuno novom dizajnu aviona.

Druga zanimljivost je identican MTOW za sve tri verzije. Erbas i Boing to ne rade jer su im dostupni motori od vise razlicitih proizvodjaca pa sebi mogu da priuste da im svaka podverzija ima razlicitu tezinu i da bude bolje optimizovana za svoju ulogu (dalji domet ili veci broj putnika). Rusi sebi ovo ne mogu da priuste pa idu na jedan motor (mozda u vise verzija snage koje su softverski kontrolisane ali fizicki gledano to je isti motor) sto im sa jedne strane pojeftinjuje proizvodnju i olaksava razvoj ali sa druge poskupljuje koriscenje zbog losijeg kompromisa tezina/snaga.

Kao sto je receno pandan je B787 dok se u odnosu na Erbas nalazi negde izmedju A330 i A350 delimicno se preklapajuci sa oba. Jasno je bilo da se ne moze ocekivati avion u klasi A350/B777 jer je ruskom trzistu u najbolja vremena bez sankcija trebalo mozda 20 do 30 takvih aviona. Nizi segment sirokotrupaca je logicnija opcija jer u krajnjoj liniji moze da zameni i ova dva gore pomenuta aviona uz odredjene kompromise.

Napustanjem osnove na bazi Il96 dobio se potpuno nov dizajn bez kompromisa iz proslosti ali uz cenu vremena jer ce razvoj trajati duze nego da su isli na doradu Il96. Imaju dobru predispoziciju u vidu proizvodnje krila bez autoklava sto bi im inace bio ogroman problem da rade isto kao Erbas i Boing sa autoklavama. Potrebno je da postojecu tehnologiju primene na vece krilo ali i da razviju polimernu oplatu za sam trup uz naravno zavrsetak razvoja PD 35. Sve u svemu ovo nije nemoguc cilj ali je sigurno nedostizan u ovoj deceniji, sada im je samo potrebno da prezive narednih desetak godina sa nesertifikovanim rezervnim delovima za Erbas i Boing.

U razvoju novi PD-26 baziran na PD-35. Taj bi najverovatnije išao za najkracu verziju novog širokotrupnog aviona (500) i bio bi pandan 787-8.
