V-22 to get a tanker option
Citat:The V-22 Osprey is getting topped-off with a new capability. An aerial refuelling system is being developed for the tilt-rotor aircraft, turning the cargo and personnel carrier into a tanker that can provide fuel to other aircraft, mid-flight.

Israel Angles to Extend US Offer for V-22s
Citat:Israel has asked Washington to preserve cut-rate costs and generous terms of a proposed package of up to six V-22 tilt-rotor aircraft pending an ongoing reassessment of procurement priorities driven by last summer's Gaza war.
Proposed prices, delivery schedules and deferred payment allowances guaranteed in a Pentagon-crafted letter of offer and acceptance (LOA) expired Dec. 10.

Marines test missiles on V-22 Osprey
Citat:In late March, the Marine Corps teamed with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to test-fire a precision-guided missile from an airborne Osprey. In a unique twist, the air crew coordinated the shoot with ground troops operating handheld tablet technology. The PCAS, short for persistent close air support system, was featured at Talon Reach, a regular exercise conducted in the southwestern U.S.

US Navy developing early plans for V-22 mid-life upgrade
Citat:The US Navy is already drawing up plans for a mid-life upgrade (MLU) of the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey that could lead to major structural and electronic changes for the tiltrotor aircraft after the next decade.
The MLU discussions are separate from an ongoing effort to consider alternatives to the Rolls-Royce AE1107C Liberty engine for the V-2 fleet, says Col Dan Robinson, V-22 programme manager for US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).
Instead, the MLU will begin as the first V-22s reach about 5,000 flight hours some time in the next decade. The highest-time aircraft – a US Air Force CV-22 – is already beyond the 3,000 flight-hour mark, Robinson says.
